My story is a rather odd one – as I was trying to avoid getting a certain kind of problem, I ended up with another one in regards to Foot Heel Pain.

treat-plantar-fasciitisLet me start at the beginning about how I first got foot heel pain. I loved high heels. As a woman, they were sort of my way to express who I was. That was until I watched a documentary on TV showing the kind of muscular damage that eventually comes from wearing high heels. What’s worse, the most common treatment involved fixing the resulting foot heel pain problems with surgery. Prior to my research on foot heel pain, I made a choice to go flat – it’s not that hard to find cute, flat shoes out there. I bought a bunch of them and I loved them. I could actually walk a lot more comfortably and a lot faster.

But it wasn’t long before I started to experience some pain in between my toes and my heel, the little place that curves inwards a little. I thought it would go, but it didn’t. I decided to look it up on the net, and that’s when I learnt that I was suffering from foot heel pain, also called plantar fasciitis/plantar fascia, which is an inflammation of the heel bone and the heel spur. This can often cause damage to the achilles tendon and the soft tissues ligament.

Of course I had to learn everything I could about how to get rid of foot heel pain because by this time, I was in considerable pain, especially when I stood or walked. Sometimes, even when I was asleep, I would feel like the muscles in the middle of my feet were pulling and it was painful, and caused swelling and bunions.

How Foot Heel Pain Starts

Apparently plantar fasciitis and foot heel pain is an inflammation of that band of tissue which is at the base of your foot, the one that curves inwards. It can come as a result of several reasons, but whatever the reason, what eventually happens is that the structure of your foot is altered, gets irritated and inflamed and then begins to hurt a lot. Foot heel pain if left untreated can eventually lead to arthritis setting in. I was surprised to learn that wearing extremely high heels could cause the same kind of foot heel pain – for me it was the opposite; I had been wearing shoes that were too flat.

I decided I had to have a professional diagnosis from a podiatrist, a doctor who specializes in foot injuries, and true to what I had found out, my foot heel pain was plantar fasciitis caused by wearing very low shoes.

Was there a way to fix my foot heel pain without having to take medications? I happen to be on a detox regimen where I was to keep off any kind of medications for a year, so I had to get a natural way to fix my foot pain. I discovered that there was a lot that I could do. Understanding that it was simply a distortion of the way the feet are supposed to be because of the shoes I had been wearing, I knew that through stretching and exercises, I could take them back to their original shape, reduce the foot heel pain, and then always support them with appropriate heels.

Here’s what I did to Get Rid of Foot Heel Pain:

1. As I mentioned, I did a lot of feet stretches and exercises for my foot heel pain. I would focus mainly on the calf muscles because they extend all the way to the middle base of the foot.

2. I stopped walking barefoot around the house because this would cause my feet to distort further and make the foot heel pain worse. It was just like wearing shoes that were too flat.

3. When the foot heel pain got bad sometimes, I would use ice packs. Always use a towel between your heel and the ice without letting the ice touch your skin – the cold can make it contract too fast and you’ll end up in even more pain.

4. I had to stop walking and driving around too much for some time because those activities were straining my feet, and making my foot heel pain worse. Each time after a long drive or a long walk, I’d feel a lot of pain.

5. Of course I got rid of all those cute, little, flat shoes and bought reasonable, medium heels.

6. I also got some padding and strapping for those particularly bad days so that I could give the foot some extra support around the fascia.

Of course I have kept up the exercises and the stretches for my foot heel pain, although the pain is long since gone. I can tell you that using these methods, and without ever having to pop a single pill, I was able to cure my plantar fasciitis foot heel pain permanently.
